Supported Independent Living (SIL)
SIL is a type of support to help you live in your home, it helps to live you as independently as possible, while building your skills. Supported Independent Living is for people with support needs, who require some level of help at home all the time. This means you need a significant amount of help throughout the day, 7 days a week and this includes overnight support. If you require SIL as a reasonable and necessary support, funding is provided by the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) based on the level of support you require to live independently.
Supported Independent Living can include many different supports, if it meets the NDIS funding criteria it can include:
- Assistance with personal care tasks
- Help to build your skills in meal preparation, cooking, cleaning, and developing a routine.
- Help to action any behaviour support plans in place.
- Help to develop your social skills.
- Support with supervision, personal safety, and security
- Support to give you your medication.
- Support for medical appointments
- Community access that is not routine or regular, for example, support to complete personal tasks.
- Support to get to and from community access activities, where this is your preference. For example, support to attend physiotherapy appointments or visit with friends and family outside the home.
Our SIL Accommodation
We offer supported independent living in the Northern Suburbs of Perth to assist you to maintain your independence and participate in the community. With 24/7 support we can help you access social groups, go shopping, community integration, social integration, have coffee with friends or even help you go on holiday! We want to help you regain your independence in the community.
Our accommodation has 24/7 carer support, they will help with assisting and performing essential house cleaning activities, laundry, meal preparation and fresh home cooked meals, medication management and personal care support.
The properties are located close to a shopping centre and transport networks, we can assist with planning a route on planning a public transport or take you in a standard car. If needed we can assist in getting adapted vehicles to get you to your appointment, work or occasion on time and arrange for an escort to be with you if needed.
